Post by oneday on Wed 08 Apr 2015, 6:09 pm

got some vinyl from the local craft shop--leather look alike --and got the mrs to sew it together and I cut the screen out and replaced it with a larger piece which she sewed the top to the cover..

its cut to suite

$5 plus about an hour mucking around.

SNAP!! Missus made this yesterday. This is version two. You'll see Velcro on the side edges but that didn't work too well so we put extra Velcro to go "across" the screen to hold down the flap. We didn't bother to remove the old side bits of Velcro. It'd look neater if we did but who cares,,,,,,,,,,it'll be worn out by next year!

The flap is also a sunshade when it's in the up position. Material is canvas so it won't get too hot under there. I dunno if LCD screen technology has changed much over the years but I know my GPS screen used to fade to almost no contrast when it was left face up on the dash.
