Mrs and her new machine Empty Mrs and her new machine

Post by oneday Mon 13 Apr 2015, 11:05 am

the mrs came out sunday morning for a couple of hours to have a swing with the 2300.

I set sail prior with the 7k and pinged a target and left it for the mrs just to blood her in.

well what an effort to take all the jewellery off...but its only silver---but its a metal and u r using a metal detector--good help me ---I'm glad I don't do tours coz I reckon I would have shot everyone by the end of the day.

anyhow 1 target ended up being 2 targets 10" apart --she was happy--but got peed of as we all did with the flys.

the 2300 with the B&Z Booster and the external speaker certainly lets u know the target is there. don't forget if u r goin to set your machine up this way that your booster is self propelled.

Robert--thank god u don't know me.

any woman who comes bush with me wont get pampered no matter what--I have more important things to get on with.

I just pointed her in the right direction which wore thin and then I was out of the area doin my own thing.

as far as a cuppa goes then theres no way i'll make her a cuppa coz, I can never make it right--how hard is it to make a cuppa?
Bloody hard for my mrs--it has to be right with sugar and no milk and u have to have the right brand of coffee. Stuff that bullshit--she makes her own.

mind u she can cook but that part wasn't needed ....

she lasted all of 3 hours then the flys and heat got the better of her, and she was wearing a fly net.
Thank god she didn't want to go to the loo....that would have brought the house down.

i'll stick to the boys only club.

meant to mention last night i have been running the SDC with the B&Z booster up at Tuckanarra behind the karbar homestead. got it from ray and am extremely impressed. i got a target in a mullock pile and started digging. went down 1 ft in soft dirt and still had the target in the hole. checked the sides but definitely in the bottom so kept digging. well i hit the 2 ft mark, checked again and still there so i got my pinpointer out and nothing on the sides so kept going hitting the 3 ft mark, no kidding guys i couldnt believe it myself. so after scraping out the hole with my hands I finally uncovered it and got out a clump of dirt only to find a old bully beef tin key. that is the deepest i have detected a target to date and no it wasnt a dream. the dirt was damp and quite loose. now thats impressive.

Yeah Martin I had one of those holes in a mullock heap up at Mertondale. The rocks were packed loose so the target just kept going deeper as I dug lol!

The SDC upset her again yesterday. I took of with the ATX while she was setting up with all the tackle. About fifteen minutes later she caught us swinging the White's. I asked "what happened?" She said "I got three metres and the batteries are flat." She's too used to the White's where the batteries never go flat, well they seem to go on forever and then you get a warning long before they give up.

I got a little advice from a guy on setting up the SDC so this morning I started with multiple scans. It helped. At least now it just chatters away like a flock of canaries instead of the awful noise that we're used to. Mrs M was busy washing and stacking old bottles so I decided to take the SDC for a swing now that it had settled down a bit. An hour latter we had our first nugget of the trip Very Happy

We can call it a nugget can't we ?

glad you aref finding the good stuff Phil even if it is tiny as it all adds up and the thing is phil i have a 2 inch by 1 inch by 1/2 inch neodymium magnet on the end of the pick and it picks up the target and around 3 inches off the ground easy so it would of picked it up as soon as i uncovered it so i dont think that was the case, as far as the batteries go if they are charge up correctly i can get a day and a half of detecting only turning it off after a full day. i like to run it with the threshold set a the 2nd level just enough to hear it and have never missed a target, ive tested it thoroughly and cannot fault the sdc. yep it finds small gold but im happy with that and if there is a good size target under the coil i certainly know about it. the only issue is deciding whether to use the SDC or the 5k for the day.
cheers

Quote: "well they seem to go on forever and then you get a warning long before they give up."

That is because the SDC has inbuilt protection for when you use Lithium Ion batteries. Unlike NiCd or other early technology rechargable batteries, Lithium ion batteries are damaged if they are completely discharged, hence the sudden, "sorry, I'm not going to work anymore" Good night.

As far as the SDC goes with small gold, we have found several around the 15 gram mark, half a dozen 5 to 10 gram bits and one 68 gram bit. Lost count in the first two months of how many smaller bits.

We took a few days off and headed out to Lake Yellowdine. We never found any gold but I found if I recharged the SDC batteries a few times they last a lot longer. Each time the charger turned green I turned it off for a few minutes and went again. After two more charges I figured they were done. For some reason I had a lot of false starts though. I was using the original batteries that came with the machine that have tape around them.

Imagine how good this machine could have been if they'd actually finished the R&D and corrected the known faults and design flaws before they sent to market.

Spot on Phil. If you read the details for the charger, the lights go green, not when the battery is fully charged as you would expect, but when the bulk charge has been delivered and the top up has begun. Resetting as you have been doing, takes the charger back to bulk charging resulting in a more complete charge much quicker. There are some much better chargers on the market that will fully charge 9000mAh batteries in one go.

Yes the machine definitely has design flaws but hey, they find gold where some other, possibly better packaged, detectors don't. Wink
