K Town,

Great stuff. It's amazing the difference in outcomes with a ZED. We've gone over 7 old patches now for about 4 grammes!! Others like you, reckon the ZED is awesome and others reckon the opposite. Can it be luck or what?

One guy here in Leo is doing very well by doing exactly the opposite of what ML recommend - he scrapes his coil on the deck!! He's ounces in front when ML are telling us to lift the coil! It's a mystery and very confusing who to believe.

Hi Les,
I to am scraping the coil on the deck when the ground permits. The areas I, m having success (vacuuming) in were once very rich in nuggets, the k town patch in particular gave up close to 2000 oz to detectors. The audio and signal sounds on the 7 have taken me nearly 5 months to get my head around but now I am confident I don, t leave to much behind in the area I, ve worked.

Hey I don't suppose you have figured out how to run the 7K over salt have ya Question Question Question Question

Works out at 2oz a month as I, ve had the 7 for just on 6 months. The salt is no go for the 7, tried everything to get it stable enough to detect but unfortunately to noisy. The 23 is my go to machine on the salt handles it beautifully.

Yeah I keep hoping someone is gonna figure out how to make them purr on the salt-obviously its just wishful thinking on my behalf. I keep having ideas about different settings and the like that I can try out there but haven't got around to trying them out there yet.

Anyway keep up the good work mate...... but maybe start leaving a few signals in the ground for us mere mortals Very Happy

Let's not get carried away ot too downhearted here. K Town has done well and damn good luck to him. But settle back and look at the maths.

That Mt Regal patch was what was termed a "super patch", once in a lifetime and can be life changing. I've had leftovers from such things myself and it's great. (but never did as well as KT!!)

But consider the percentages on the return vs other small patches.

Mt Regal was alledgedly a 2000 oz patch.
KT - gets 12 oz in leftovers
Percentage recovered = 0.6% Pretty small eh.

So consider much smaller patches of say, 20 ounces, which is a good patch these days. Assume that same residual recovery of "0.6%" and you can expect a return of only 0.12 of an ounce - about 3.5 grammes. This is just maths but ya gotta consider these things. Super patches are rare, smaller patches are perhaps better examples. Do we expect too much of the ZED I wonder?

So it's not the detector that's faulty, it's yer maths! Very Happy

But remember, the ZED is damn good machine if you can justify the price. Plus it may be that first one gramme bit that leads to that "super patch" and that one grammer may be missed by lesser machine. It is probably the best patch hunter in that respect whilst being a good "crumber".

THATS why when u read about a bloke over East testing new coils and prospecting for a living-great hobby, getting all excited about finding .07 gram pieces then god help us.

He aint going to survive too long with finding those sort of rewards, especially if he takes into account wear and tear on his vehicle etc etc.

Just as well I wasn't too good at maths. Maybe that's why these people have Jeweller's scales that go back 2 decimal points.

don't forget Les that all finds aren't as they seem otherwise u will cause another gold rush in Ktown.

I did hear reports from mates at the time of "30 odd ounces in a week" but it was "The Karratha Caravan and Camping Show" up there in that paddock. I have some pics of that gold as well,,,,bloody huge species!

I'll try and find 'em but with the new lappy and WIN 8, they could be anywhere!! Bill Gates should be flogged in a public place for letting it out of its cage! What a dog.

It's thunder 'n lightning and bucketing down again here. They'll close the roads again tomorrow for sure. Ah well, its an all day pornucopia then!! bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce
