So no luck in the gold department yet,

But.. we have found some really nice gems etc.

So i got to wondering i wonder if i can shape and polish them, so i had a go tonight and to my surprise it actually work ok.

I will upload a photo once my photo is charged.

does anyone else collect gems etc apart from gold?

hi Dane, i have picked up a nice quartz terminated crystal that also had gold in it recently and have been interested in gem stones for a while. i havnt done much searching usually concentrating on the gold but im sure a lot walk over valuable stones when detecting not knowing what they are looking at so it could be a valuable bit of knowledge to have. good luck buddy

Hi martin

Yes it seems as if most people are only really interested in the gold which i can understand.

I had another go at shaping and polishing some more nice rocks i found.

They turned out really good, i am almost 50/50 at the moment as to finding gold to nice rocks
