Our trip to the Murchison Empty Our trip to the Murchison

With our 4WD bus parked in QLD we had to fire up the old bus for the trip to Quinns.

It's been sitting in the back yard for years waiting for a new engine. It took the call of the goldfields to get me motivated.

We had difficulty finding gold at Quinns but stumbled across a well worn patch near Meekatharra that was happy to give up a bit.

The ground had been chained and cross chained several times before we found it but the SDC still pulled out 200 nuggets from an acre.

This little lizard sat there while I swung the detector across his back. You can see the dust where the coil rubbed his skin. He stayed around while Mrs M brought the camera.

She doesn't like to get up in the mornings but this night she came in at 10:50pm carrying 17 nuggets.

We finished the trip with 250 little nuggets and 12 species.
