season clean out
after the heat of the last few weeks, I decided to unload the troopy of all food and give it to the mrs in the house.
well at least I got all the cans out and then tells me to throw them in a bin.. no gratitude.
I said theres enough preservative in them to petrify a cow. a couple of cans were out dated by 6 months but still no success.
no luck--out they went.
so if u haven't unloaded by now it might pay to.

Falling about here laughing Ray, every year we go through this.
Gotta sneak out to the shed and scoff a few cans of beans that are a couple of months out of date.

Re: season clean out
Way out the back of Tuckannara many years back I was looking for something for "afters". From the depths of camper I produced can that I just knew was Christmas Pudding. There was no label on it,,,,
I shook it and it rattled. Never mind - just warm it up and slosh custard on it. Punched a hole in the can, put a skerrick of water in it, got it steaming, opened it into a bowl, sloshed custard on it. I'm still alive and it tasted alright.
It musta been at least 4 years old! Canned stuff lasts forever,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,doesn't it?

Re: season clean out
that reminds me of a can of apricots I had in the back of the troopy.
I was fanging for a bit of fruit one evening so I rummaged through the draws and found a out of round can, bulging at both ends, thought shit this can has had a rough life rolling around in the back so didn't think about it too much, sort of like being pregnant and the mrs is craving for a mars bar, u just got to have it.
opened the can and that was a challenge coz it was so contorted out of shape but managed to create a bit of damage to the can with a cerated knife and stuck a fork in and out popped a nice apricot.
well that was ok.
I decided that these little buggers were going to a good home and got a bowl and emptied the contents into it and bugger me dead all the fruit was ok, except that the juice had turned green and I wasn't sure whether the juice was starting to eat the can. I should have left the top on coz the first one tasted ok mind u that was the only one I ate.
moral of the story--if unsure about the contents then keep covered.

Moral of the story is,,,"If it's green going in then it'll be green coming out,,,,,,,,"
