I doubt very much this would be much use for big diesel motor on a cold morning, especially one that needed glow plugs - 8 of 'em.

200 CCA is not a lot of amps. May start a small car petrol engine but not a big 4WD engine.

Anyway,,,,,,,,,,,it's me that needs "a start in the morning" but the wife's not interested! A cold shoulder as she turns over, a loud fart and I get the message,,,,,,,,,,,, :clown.

,,,,,,,,,,,after which I take it outside and slam it in the car door! That fixes me up for the day. Buggers the hinges but,,,,,,cyclops

they do have a engine size rating 3.0 lt petrol or 2.5 Lt diesel, starting them up to 20 times on one charge but the vid shows it starting a V8 with no battery in it. there are a few vids on the unit one showing it starting 7 vehicles one after the other with no batteries in any of them. certainly they are limited Les, I guess a lot will also depend on what condition the motor is in and its not suitable for all vehicles  but for me and my motor it should be fine. im getting one as soon as our recently sold house settles and i will test it out on many motors and get back to you on how it goes. the specs says starting current 200 amps peak 400 amps, not sure how that relates to CCA

the add on TV shows them jump starting petrol engines only --- yah diesels are a different ball game with the glow plugs and the revs on turning over are slower thus more power needed.

but for what they are designed to do they are great and with LiCt batteries its a new ball game..

CCA?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,http://all-about-lead-acid-batteries.capnfatz.com/all-about-lead-acid-batteries/lead-acid-battery-fundamentals/what-are-cold-cranking-amps/

This is a recognised and accepted SAE engineering standard used all over the world for battery capacities.

Peak Amps? This is a measure of how many amps the pack will produce for a very short time, seconds even. The term shouldn't be used in the context of seeing how much it'll put out on a regular basis for any longer than a few seconds. A bit like a fuse may be rated for 10 amps but it will take maybe 12 amps for a split second. I wouldn't trust such a figure as a measure of the pack's suitability to start an engine. I wouldn't bank on it in "bush flat battery" situation.

Maybe you need to research the actual CCA that's needed to start your truck and then buy something that meets that requirement.

But it's a fair indication that such a small package can pack a punch big enough to blow someone's hand apart if you short it out or the pack blows up - Lithium Ion batteries again! I've burnt a few spanners in half accidentally dropping across battery terminals,,,,,,,,,,,,,,whoops! Embarassed

Having had a TD42, that's not a bad effort for such a small pack. The TD42 is "indirect injection" which takes a bit more glow and a bit more cranking when cold. But not bad at all.

Try it in winter around Laverton and then I'll be convinced Wink
