heat stress
got a bit warm today in k town around (41c) but the humidity was up there.
i'm working on the new 4 storey building next to the shopping centre the one with all windows and no air flow.
so as you can appreciate its like a sauna in there .
well three people fell over today with heat stress.
one had to be hospitalized the other two spent the rest of the day in airconditioning.
all three were (fifo's)

Re: heat stress
Well you would think after 3 going down on Thursday there would of been some kind of action taken and preventative measures put in place to try and combat this.
Obviously whoever is in control of the job site has no real focus on safety, i know things operate different in these parts but this is ridiculous, did they implement any changes at all ?
Fans at least at drink stations with electrolytes and regular breaks wouldn't of broken the bank and would be far cheaper than filling out incident reports/workers comp claims, imagine if someone fell down and ended up in a coma, stupidity at it's finest if they didn't act at all.

Re: heat stress
gday banjo
the main problem (imo) is that every one is a contractor.
put a price in for the job allocated and the quicker you get it done the more money you make.
the builder did put 12 industrial fans onsite on friday and electrolytes just one day too late.

Re: heat stress
not good and the trouble is if left unchecked people drink too much of the stuff instead of just supplementing their water intake with it
