Re: Tengraph old mines
"before the dept erases them"
Why would the dept be erasing them?
From what I read about the last MRF meeting they are actually expanding the historic mines database to help them get a better idea of lands that require rehabilitation. The abandoned mines is a great resource. All the files can be downloaded here.

The most useful part about it is that includes production records of alluvial, dollied etc

Re: Tengraph old mines
same reason Trent that they want to charge for POW-P and mining permits for recovering a mineral source which mind u runs into the thousands.... cause they can..yet the dept wants to go electronic to save money.
Or maybe they want to stop prospectors illegally prospecting those areas as so readily occurs all over the state.
I still for the life of me cant see why it takes so long to grant a lease.

Re: Tengraph old mines
The main hold up on leases is the 6 month wait on native title even if you have already signed an agreement. Then the black fellas dont lodge there objection till the last bloody week
I got it sussed around here, mine are all dead on 7 months now.

Re: Tengraph old mines
APLA has had a great deal to say about a lot of what's been going on within the DMP lately and a lot of it is aimed at making life hard for small operators. I'm not talking detectorists I'm talking small miners etc.
I think Bill and Udo got this out just in time as the DMP have removed the search term "Alluvial" from the WAMEX database. So ya can't search old records for "alluvial" diggings any more.
Plus the "Abandoned Mines" policy from the DMP was the precise opposite of what TKing is thinking it is. They were hell bent on backfilling as many as they could and charging BIG for the one's they couldn't. With govt depts it always pays t look at the context in which they say things.
e.g,,,,in the UK a few years back a Minister said, "I will fix the problem of poverty amongst young single mothers". To which everybody thought, " Oh good, he's gonna increase the allowance for young single mothers"...........What happened? He cancelled all the welfare for young single mothers and they had to go out an get a job! Problem WAS solved,,,,but not the way ya think it was.
There are huge power shifts on the DMP right now and the Environmental Section of the DMP is currently winning every round.
APLA is doing its best to fight back,,,,,,,,,,,,,and it was APLA that got the fees for POWs and MPs shitcanned. Don't let anybody tell you any different.
So all of you that aren't in APLA, join us, we need the help. We're getting some wins but we need all the people we can get. Membership fees are now being used to place ads in newspapers and letters to politicians about the new Mining Act Amendments. If you think it's bad now Ray, wait until you see what's coming in that lot! Thank you. Rant over.

Re: Tengraph old mines
TK,
Are you talking objections as in "Objection to Grant"? Or some other type of "Objection"?
