wm12 thingy

GDAY GUYS AND GALS
i turn off the machine then turn off the wm12 drive around a bit (30 mins),
get out , kit up and on three occasions the the wm12 wont ark up ???????????
so plug in the headphones anybody else having this drama!!!

Yep lot's of different issues with these, i think UTBN has 2 because his original one stuffed up with the charge connection so he bought another to get himself going again whilst the original was sent back and between the 2 i think they have been back a total of 3 times so far.

Mine didn't work out of the box and i had to do a factory reset, never had to do this with my WM10 ever, not long into the season it would not accept charge, when at home i charged via 240v and it came up but was never the same, it would often shut down randomly, it also had an annoying continual groan coming through the headphones, sent it back and had the battery replaced and told them about the groan, it seem's the groan may be gone now but will keep an ear out for it.

The quality has dropped off because i can't ever remember people having issues with the WM10's on the CTX's.

ol mate told me not to turn off the wm12 when shutting down, just turn off the machine ,
so i'll give that a try. goin out to pewah this weekend dont wont to get cut short.

I generally keep my module on the arm rest of my Z.

have noticed on a regular basis that if I put the module in my left pocket and the signal gets lost when I swing to the left thus the signal has a hard time trying to get to the module thus this is the reason I leave it on the velcro my arm rest.
thus when I lean forward to test a spoon full of dirt for a nugget it stay put on the detector without interfering with the coil

How do you find it in windy conditions with it mounted on the arm rest Ray ?

I used to run my WM with the back facing out in my front right jeans pocket and have the headphones plugged in but i recently changed my harness set up (trying the hipstick out) and the headphone jack was getting knocked about a bit so moved the WM onto the right back of the webbing on the pro swing.

Just on the hipstick though, it has helped me increase the arc of my swing, it was choked off before, i also feel i have better control as well.

I run mine from my right pocket head phone cable inside my harness clips so it doesn't catch on branches and stuff found if it's in my right pocket it doesn't drop signal I'm a right handed swinger I also never switch off my wm12 I always let it shut off on auto have never had any drama's with it.

i also have tried the hipstick thing and will again this weekend ,
and yes the swing arc is greater banjo but saying that the thingy that sits in ya pocket
was upsetting the crown jewels.
its all about trying different styles.
im really over carrying my pick on my shoulder.
how the hell is a man supposed to drink and smoke out in the bush trying to enjoy himself (WTF)

What was upsetting your crown jewels ?

Iv'e always carried my pick over my shoulder for safety reasons, if i'm on a steep slope playing mountain goats and lose my footing at least i know i can dispatch the pick quickly rather than land on it, i don't hit the deck that often but the times i have if i had it tucked into the back of my harness which is probably the next best place for it in regards to the 7000 i'd say it would of hurt.
I usually alternate between over the shoulder and holding it like you would carry a rifle with the end of the pick handle cupped in my hand and the head up against my chest/shoulder area, breaks it up a bit.

the bottom part of the hipstick thingy that ya put over ya belt .
i put it on my pocket lining thingy and as ya move around it pushes in all the wrong places !!!
and i find the zed wants to sit at an angle and ya gota fight with it to keep it paralell.
yep pick im gunna find a way to strap it to ya back easy to move (stay tuned)

I got a pick holder mounted on the back of my harness used cable ties to attach it works real well, I hated my pick on the side when i had my GPX 5000 cos it would bash my knee cap all the time with the handle anyway  I use a fairly short pick (400mm and light) and I leave my big pick in the car or on the bike (Still missing ) till I really need it I would send a pic but I'm on holidays for a Easter

Also dunno about everyone else but I find being so skinny the harness tends to ride up around above my hips like a corset lol any tips for us skinny fellas

Yeah hip stick the only way to go. BigW in town has rod buckets for cheap with a velcro strap on em. A bit like the one in the photo. I just put the hip stick it in now, spreads the weight out over your leg more, works good. Chucked the bungee out and just used parra cord from the hip stick to the velcro attachment point, which I cut down and wrap around the handle. I let the WM12 turn its self off. havent had an issue with it.

i thought that's what you meant, silly question but why oh why are you putting it in your pocket ? Not only would it be moving all over the place it would also negate the whole process of doing the measuring thing to get the right size hipstick if the end of it is down around your ballsack

Are you using the pro swing ? I set the hipstick up on a Shingleback harness but i wasn't totally happy and JP suggested using the pro swing and pull the J struts out, seem's to be ok with no adverse issues as yet, i can feel it pulling slightly on my shoulder but the padding in the pro swing is far better than the straight webbing on the Shingleback.
I have the hipstick clipped onto the webbing just to the rear of the velcro webbing keeper.

looks good Treasurehunter, thanks for the tip, when i first started using it i changed the position more to the front so it wasn't fouling on my headphone jack and after about 30 minutes i reckon i would of ended up with a blister the way it felt so i had to find another spot for the WM12 so i could move it back

oh and getting back to the WM module, i have it in one of Detrack's pouches that i purchased for the CTX years ago, i used to put it in my front jeans pocket with the back facing out which worked great for the belt clip and keeping it secure.
As i said earlier i recently moved it to the webbing waist belt on the pro swing so the back of it now wasn't facing the detector but it was real damn close, i had to repair my headphones since i had been out last, poor strain relief inside the jack, went out yesterday and i kept getting the audio slightly cutting in and out which had me thinking i still had an issue with the headphones and i was beating myself up, decided to go through a process of elimination, ran it on the arm rest with no headphones, no intermittent stuff, put the headphones back in, still all good.
I took it out of the pouch, put the belt clip to the front face of the WM and put it back in the pouch and back to the webbing belt with the back of the WM now facing directly at the detector, rock solid with no intermittent stuff, i know it's line of sight stuff but surely if it's within a foot of the detector ???

Couple of photos to show my setup. As you can see I've got the WM12 and B&Z booster coupled together with a homemade curly cord and clipped on the right hand side of the harness belt. I've threaded the wiring from the twin speakers through the inside of the main harness straps and down to the B&Z. I've fastened a 2L Camelbak to the harness which helps distribute the weight a bit better.
I used to use a Hipstick with the 5000, but with the 7000 I find the harness setup the way Ubtn describes in his video heaps better and can swing the Z all day. My pick slides into the loop at the top of the Camelbak which keeps it well out of the way and hands free
