I thought you might like to see a couple of photos of some gold a mate and I found recently over a 4 week trip.

Two piles from two areas for about 250g of gold.

My share is in my hand. The one in the middle is 75g with about 70g gold in it based on SG test, the solid at top right is 28g, the bigger specie has about 16g and the other about 10g also based on SG tests. There's a chunky 5g solid there as well that came from a creek that is pretty special to me.

I was stoked to get the 70 grammer, a real soft inverted signal in old wash. Down about 2/3 of a pick handle. It was all red coloured when I pulled it out. I have just cleaned it up with a toothbrush and ultrasonic bath to show up a bit of colour - I really like the look of old gold. The specie at bottom left was about 10ft from the big one but has been in acid. The solid was also deep and a soft inverted signal, but it was in the bank of a creek hence so shiny, and it hasn't been in acid.

By the way I mainly used a 14 x 9 NF evo - very nice coil.

Cheers

Thanks guys - and yeah Ray, it would be interesting. I have no doubt that the 14 round elite would go deeper -round vs elliptical- but thats in the perfect world, flat ground, no rocks or spinifex etc, etc.

There's always tradeoffs. I've used rounds but for me the 14 x 9 is perfect for the type of prospecting I do.

I've ended up in the NF camp I guess and have used the old solid, then the advantage and now the evolution and each model has been better than the previous. The advantage is so good I really wondered if I had just wasted my dough. Well, I didn't. The evo is smooth as, and the signals are clearer. I got my mate to pinpoint when I had found a bar with a few bits behind it - kept digging and got 11 bits I think. Anyway he had a 45 set up like mine - the only difference was he had the 14 x 9 advantage. He is not very experienced and tried to pinpoint the signal but couldn't get it. I got his machine and I could get it but just, you had to really 'make it', and when you did it was scratchy. With the evo the signal way easier to 'make', it was smoother and way clearer. That's one 'test' albeit different machines, but it convinced me.

I cant tell you if it is more sensitive on real small gold like 0.1 and smaller as I didn't find any where I was - and I actually wonder. It is much harder to pin point with than the advantage. By the way, I also used my old man's 17 x 13 evo - it is a very good coil - sensitive and punches deeper than the 14 on small spongy gold at least. I could have used that all the time, but my preference is still the 14 x9 for day in day out prospecting.

Stingray,Congrats! Thanks for sharing ! I like to do some gold exploration with -professional-underground-metal-detection-machine-p-70.html]best child metal detectors ukIt also a a good investment. Metal detectors can be used to find coins, rings and other metal things. I found valuables hidden on the beach or my backyard.
