Vehicle wraps
So I'm just in the process of having my 200 series repainted after a little bingle with some trees and I've been looking at vinyl wrapping the whole car to protect the paint a bit just from branches and crap that brush past when driving in the bush I would like to help keep up the resale value so I'm wondering if anyone has tried this already how effective is it and what are your thoughts.
cheers Mick

Re: Vehicle wraps
geez mick
I reckon u should buy a good troopy and that way u wont have to worry about damaging the 200 series.
even if u wrap it in clear film, u will still damage the film especially with the scrub up here.
I don't think its going to be a win win.

Re: Vehicle wraps
Mick,
I had a 100 Series 4.2 TD many years ago and it was "mint", low mileage etc. I had that PTFE "paint protector" applied to it and it certainly helps keep the "screachers" of it. The "screachers" are those branches and twigs that make the bloody awful "screeeeeecccchhhhhh" as the twig rips the polish coat out and you're sat there going, "Shheehtttttt, there's a thousand bucks off the trade in value". Get enough of those and yer car's worth a lot less.
Anyhow, the paint protection does work in that respect but it won't stop a real solid branch etc from making a "dinge". The car's a lot easier to clean as well.
BTW - that 100 series was stolen ten days after I'd finished outfitting the thing with every bit of "fruit" known to prospecting. It had the lot. Never again will I buy a truck that looks good enough to steal. Broke my heart that did.
I now have a beat-up old Nissan with a Brunswick Diesel in it,,,,,,,,,,,and another load of fruit,,,,,,,,but the truck looks something from a wrecking yard,,,,,,,,,,,and it creams Landcruisers every day in the bush!! Crap on the bitumen though,,,,,,,,,

Robert--if u work hard and save a heap of doe plus go prospecting u can achieve anything u want,
The trick to it all is u have to be seen out there doing it.
