12 volt compressors, any recommendations
I'm looking for a new 12volt compressor for the vehicle, general work inflating from sand pressure to about 45psi on 265/70/R17 's
There are a lot of cheap one around but I'm not sure how long they last

After lots of research a few years back i settled on an ARB unit Gary.
Some of the cheaper ones get good feedback but to be honest it's a lottery.
i brought the CKMP12 which comes in its own plastic box, i was at the time living in suburbia though so shipping wasn't an issue
here is a link to it as an example

Hi Gary,
Yep agree with Banjo. I've got an ARB pump in a grey box, have had it for over ten years and works great, used it heaps.
I was in Kal a few months back and the ARB shop had them on special, might be worth a phone call
Regards

The highly regarded and expensive Blue Tongue seems to have very good rep and has for years:

Beware Chinese copies
I use this:

Been good for many years. Weak point? When ya lend it to ya desperate mate and he's a klutz and it slides of the back of his rubbish laden ute, hits the deck and snaps off the plastic filter housing. You can buy replacement housings, hoses and fittings and new filter elements. Other than that - it's been fast and bullet-proof. Heavy duty battery clips as well and not these wimpy bits ya see on some.

Hi Gary - I did a bit of reading and bought one of those thumpers. Only used it a couple of times though, so can't vouch for longevity. But it seems to be a solid unit, does the job and I'm happy so far.

I'll second the Bushranger, mine is still puffing 10 years later.
Never use servo air when checking tyres always pull out the BR.

Re: 12 volt compressors, any recommendations
Thanks for the reply's everyone.
Sounds like they will all do the job and good to hear parts are available for the bushrangers as well.
Looks like I'll go with the ARB.
Cheers for the heads up on the special in Kal Snapper, I gave them a call and they have the best price around at $299 but freight into Hedland is an extra $70.
Thought I'd give PMG a call here in town and they have a special starting Monday where they throw in one of the ARB pressure gauges for $376 so I'll pick one up then.
Cheers

Thats good Gary, pity my mates don't work at ktown arb any more, but that deal sounds good.
Make sure you give the pump time to cool down before you roll up the hose and pack it away, it gets hot running up in the Pilbara heat,

Saw a robust looking one in Bunnings yesterday, made by Ozito. Had the usual "seven centuries" warranty I suppose. For 65 bucks and the air and cycle rate it looked pretty good.
