its raining in Ktown
for a lot of folks, rain is a common occurrence but here in Ktown I reckon its a bloody relief and a most welcome site to see and smell the fresh air.
Just a short vid of the rain this morning-29-3-2015
sorry about the commentary--the rain was pelting down and I reckon the cows out on Mt Welcome and Karratha Stations were kicking their heals..
sorry about the quality--iphone5 has its limits..

Business as usual in Hedland, the rain that hit Karratha didn't penetrate the weather dome here.

Re: its raining in Ktown
we were out back of paynes find near messengers last week and it was wet then, the road north of Yalgoo was closed and there was lots of water on the side of the roads. the bush track were passable but you had to watch the ground closely. creeks are wet and running and we have had more rain since. last report on meeka from Chris and June was it was dry and they got very little rain.
you thinking of heading this way over Easter Les?

Ta!
Wedgetail we are at Sandstone and it is wet all gravel roads closed at present, we were in the Paynesville area 4 days ago and the ground was wet along with plenty of ground noises. We are heading home back to Geraldton, cutting this trip short due to the rain, not the areas you were inquiring about ie Mt Magnet but some information is better than none.

Hmmm,,,,,,,we were planning on Meeka, Yalgoo by mid-next week but that looks hopeless. I can switch to Kal/Leonora/Laverton if all else fails. Bugger!
But I do have date in Kal for the 24th that I can do as second best!
Thanks for the latest info on the ground.

Rain! RAIN!!!
It hasn't "rained" in central Victoria for about 2 years.
Dams are empty, stock is hand fed etc, etc. I blame the government of course.

We got a break in the rain yesterday at Torrington long enough for me to drill all the rivets out of the solar panel and try to seal a leak that I've been looking for for a year. I think I just tracked it down. We're camped on the Stanthorpe, QLD showgrounds now with a few hundred others. It's overcast but might clear up later.

Talking to a mate this morning and I could hear the rain on the roof of his camp. Said it had been raining all night. He is about 120km south east of Nullagine. Creeks were running and station people were grinning.

Re: its raining in Ktown
its very green out there and looks like its going to be a very wet season. everyone be careful out there and expect to get rained in. once it starts you could get stuck for a week or more so be well prepared. the roads are open around Cue but only just and some are still closed. news from the caravan park is that 3 people have already been bogged and fined $5000 by the shire.

Re: its raining in Ktown
FINALLY we see some blue sky.
there has ben widespread rain throughout the Pilbara so if anyone is planning a trip up north
then do your homework and maybe postpone it for a week or 2.
I reckon most outback gravel roads will be closed and if u get bogged --expect a decent bill if the shire comes and drags u out.
rain from Broome to Hedland-Ktown-Onslow-Newman-Marble Bar-Nullagine-and all places in between.
stay safe

Robert, i just came from Newcastle, absolutely atrocious weather, sleeping in an unfamiliar house which backs onto bush i laid awake Monday night wondering if the winds were as strong as they sounded, i haven't experienced stronger, we spent Tuesday at the relatives house watching a 25-30m gumtree spurting water out at the base each time a wind gust hit it and the grass lifting a few inches, their son's car was parked down the front seemingly out of harms way but we didn't think the huge tree's across the gully would come down and one just got it and being a new estate lots of building waste blowing around.
On the drive to the airport yesterday morning there were tree's/power lines down everywhere and the old man is still without power since Monday night and they aren't expecting it to be back on for another day or so. We were lucky and the wind dropped almost instantly on tuesday night about 10pm, we got some of the strongest gusts experienced and then nothing, lucky to blow out a candle.
But all this is insignificant compared to the people who lost their lives.

Yeah Banjo, you can't fight Nature's wrath.
I hope your "old man" is ok
I know the loss of life is always tragic but some folks ask for trouble when they try to cross flood waters or drive through a bushfire. Very sad.
Robert
PS. We are more likely to die of thirst down here
