Re: blue manna crabs
Hi Guys,
Mandurah crabs are stuffed this year, ive been fishing in Mandurah estuary for 40yrs and never seen it like it is now, even last year I could do 3 pulls of the nets and have our 20 crabs and go home, now its 20 pulls for 3 crabs
Theve allowed professionals to have a string of about 100 traps permenantly set up trapping all day and night also they allowed pros to set pots along the coastline dropping just off the weed line from perth tto Busselton and the crabs funnily enough are disappearing
The only sized crabs we are getting are the ones that have been up rivers all year and are ironstone stained on the shells the sea crabs that are coming in are undersize and plentiful
Nothing lasts forever
Ron

Re: blue manna crabs
I've been at Streaky Bay S.A. for the last five weeks. Go to jetty every 2 to 3 days with my drop nets and catch 5 or 6 blueys, missus doesn't eat them. Fish some of the other days and the days that are left I read about Gold. April May will be in Leonora then onto the Pilbara, can not wait. Sorry tried to add crab pics but couldn't. peterau

Re: blue manna crabs
well big thanks to Gazza and Jeff for a great feed of Blue Manna crabs which they nailed today and yesterday.
After pulling 300 pots I reckon the specimen needs a well earned break.
That will give me time to sort out the 3 carbies on the 40hp Mercury outboard which are not firing to their full potential. I will also see if I can nail down that leak as well.
She'll be ready for next weeks splurge hopefully.

Re: blue manna crabs
no nightjar we took the fuel line off and run it out while engine running as you do with 2 stroke engines.
maybe last time out it was over looked!!!
went a lot better today than yesterday
needs a REAL good run at some revs
to clean the cob webs out
cheers the speciman
