The SDC is a great machine
getting the most out of the machine you have is one of the tricks to regularly getting good gold. some places you may not get very deep due to the noisy ground and having to back the machine settings off and that goes for all machines. I picked up 44 bits today with the SDC for 10.57g, deepest was about 9 inches. I run her on max and she is noisy but the gold signal is still clear once you understand what she is telling you. ground noise is definitely different to gold.

another 14 bits today from the same patch for 3.75g, deepest today was 11 inches for a 0.75g but i changed over to the 5K and elite combo for that as i was not getting any more out of the SDC, i had to use the SDC to pinpoint the target in the deep hole so she did the final find. a fella with us then took his 7K over the area and picked up about 6 more deep little bits but that looks like it so between the SDC and the 5K i got pretty well most of it,
I took my hammer and chisel and chipped out the 3 targets in the rock, all greenstone hard as and they were small bits wedged in between the gaps so no leader unfortunately but still a good day.
i was tinkering with the SDC today due to the false signals people have reported to me and that i have experienced when swinging, usually hearing it on the start of the backswing. i discovered a few things. one check the cable connector inside the shaft and ensure it is tight. secondly slow the swing down especially towards the end and you must keep the coil level especially when running on 5, i twist my wrist ever so slightly. dropping to 4 will help a bit but i found that if you hold down that little green button that seems to do nothing, whilst swinging it sometimes also helps at one time it eliminated the noise altogether. good luck people. hope this helps some of you experiencing this issue.

Re: The SDC is a great machine
another good day out for the SDC pinging 45 bits for my new PB weighing in at 8.34g. I had to start raking the stones into piles so with lost time doing that it was a better productive day than the 44 bit day.
cheers

be interesting to go over that same little area with a 5000 and say a 6" or 8x6 coil---to be sure.
take a couple of soil samples Martin and let me know how much color there is.

Re: The SDC is a great machine
thought the same Ray, i have picked up tiny bits all over the patch and believe there is merit in a SPL over it, i will take some samples tomorrow and pan them to see and let you know the results.
we think the same with the 5k as i used her today with the 14 inch elite and pinged 13 bits all around 0.5g at a foot deep but ran out of light so will finish it tomorrow, I also decided to walk back uphill to the camp and pinged two nice half grammers around 300 mt from the patch so it is looking good for an extension.
cheers

Re: The SDC is a great machine
another 10.46g yesterday some going 1.7g all deep around a foot to a foot and a half. love the 14" elite/5k combo. got up this morning and hit it for one last swing b4 packing up due to impending rain, I got 4.5g in 2 hrs, over 200 bits from this small patch. now to pan off the samples i took and see its potential.
we are in the Pilbara now waiting out the rain for a few days parked up in the caravan park. time for a bit of vehicle and caravan maintenance and to relax for a while being a tourist.
cheers all
