Some more gold from the GPZ 7000
I'm stuck here in Perth until after Easter but I was doing some testing out in the bush at the end of our street. I was actually testing those "species that couldn't be heard with a GPX500" against a GPZ7000. After doing that - Ray has the results - I had a little play with the settings on different size gold. They were all air tests but I reckon this was quite impressive even so.
This "microscopic" bit that had broken off a specie was heard at 150mm (6 inches) with a "bip" that would pull you up. I tried the test because I had a report from Leonora that a guy was selling his 7000 because "it couldn't hear a one grammer on the surface"! Must be a dodgy 7000 is all I can say. I heard this one with any setting I cared to choose! Seems Ok to me.

We were about 100 mtrs from power lines and it was in a suburban area but what was noticeable was the difference in background noise (EMI) between the 7000, which was quiet, and the 5000 which was only just useable. We couldn't quieten the 5000 down no matter what we tried.

Re: Some more gold from the GPZ 7000
u better buy another set of knee pads or trade the mrs in for a young fit floosy that can dig up yah targets..
there have been a few problems with the 7k and I reckon its about time the eagle came home to rest.
Maybe theres a problem with that detector at Leo and I recommend he takes it back to the dealer to sort out.
