old caravan-refurb
nothing fancy for this old rocket I picked up locally. Doesn't have a stove, but has 2 areas for a couple of beds and a lounge in between for a bit of added comfort. The fridge works and we are about refurbing the roof ceiling panels with some new sheets in the new year.
A spray paint and bugger me dead she is starting to look half decent.
Fixed the Air Con unit today when we had a slack period. Good bath, cleaned the condensers and got all the leaves and mud out of the unit which had built up over time.
a couple of king size singles and away we go. Comfort in winter and bliss in summer with air con.
I'll stick a few 12v LED lights around the outside and all will be lit up.
Even managed to put a new jockey wheel assembly on the old girl with the hand brake cable next in the firing line. this will wait till next week now.
must have too much time on me hands.
enjoy

shes starting to look like a normal caravan--couple of dings knocked out of the corners and a spray paint to get her into the mood.

if your van is leaking from the roof panels get up and roll bondcrete on it--I usually give the roof 2 coats and on the second coat mix in a color so u can see were exactly u cover on the second coat...this is a very good fix for old vans.

good work on the van Ray. ours is an oldie but a tough unit that will go most place without having to worry too much on scratches and dings ETC.
any ideas on how to fix a sagging roof that fills up with water every time it rains? ours has a downward curve both ways so low in the guts and i wouldnt mind reversing it so water flows off but it looks pretty major. any suggestions?

Re: old caravan-refurb
if its steel framed u might be able to get a couple of acroprops and screw them up slowly 1" at a time. or try putting a false tropical roof ontop

Re: old caravan-refurb
cheers ray, i think its timber framed but i will check. i thought about a false roof but was then concerned about the extra weight with a couple of solar panels on top with the lifting cables. im going to try acro it up then seeing if i can support it with a slightly longer than required length of flat bar curved up and jacked into position. it doesnt leak ATM but holds about 40 lt of water up there when it rains so its only a matter of time.
cheers

40 Litres? Too good to waste. You could stick a bung hole in the middle, run a tube to drain off and collect the water - kill two birds with one stone!

Actually, I remember when I fiberglassed the roof on my old cub camper to stop it leaking I looked at trying to get some of this to paint it with.

Sounds amazing - almost a paint on air conditioner. I tried contacting them to get a couple of litres but they never got back to me. If anyone does manage to get hold of some please let me know.
Cheers

I did think of something similar Stingray. i have collected it a few times by syphon and topped up the tanks so it can be a bonus. now we have the awning we collect heaps when it rains anyway. worst is forgetting when i hitch her up and woosh im soaked lol. I may rethink the drain idea, it has potential.

Ray I've got a blue & white stripped canvas annex somewhere. Well I know where it is but I haven't opened the box for a while. It's the old style all closed in canvas but I can't remember the size and I don't have a frame if it needs one. I bought it some years back when we were building the first bus and never used it. If you still need it I can drag it out and take a few measurements and photos. I don't want anything for it because I don't have a use for it now.

It's all yours Ray but don't hold your breath. We were heading your way right after Easter but we are having a few problems here that are affecting the bank balance. Perhaps the end of April if all goes well.

Re: old caravan-refurb
Any idea what can be used to reseal an annex roof? Ours has been up for 7 years and we ar starting to get a fair bit of weeping. No major holes as such. Also it is up all year and needs to handle the summer heat here in Leo.
Any help will be appreciated.

Re: old caravan-refurb
Leo if it's canvas you can get a liquid a bit like PVA glue from any caravan joint. It seals and prevents mould. You apply it with a paint brush.
